Waterstreet Market Chili Fest 2009

Frank participate in a local ingredients chili fest in our town. I made the chili, his friend Matt donated the meat and Frank dished it out. We didn't win, but Frank had a great time talking to many people even though it was freezing cold that day. It was an important event to be part of because it raised awareness about how many local ingredients are still available in the winter. We joined a winter farm market and each month we pick up frozen local fruits and vegetables. It is a bit more expensive, but the price is worth it knowing where my food is coming from and helping the local farmers maintain their farms. It really is about community coming together and supporting each other in many different ways. This event raised 1000 dollars towards a local food pantry. We are so glad to be a part of it.
