Shrek and the Amish

On a stormy Friday, we took off on our journey to Lancaster, Pennsylvania's Amish Country! Uncle Wally's friend was appearing in Shrek the Musical and he offered to take the boys on this trip. The 5 of us headed to PA for the night.

The boys hopped right in bed when we arrived. Frank fell asleep ( He had worked all day). I read and Uncle Wally went out to party with his friends!

Although I never got to set my foot in the pool, the boys (all of them!) got to enjoy some pool time after breakfast. This was probably the shortest trip ever, but we had a blast.

We headed to the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre for lunch and Shrek The Musical!

The meal was a huge buffet that included a little something for everyone, even my vegetarian Owen. The show was awesome! The music, acting, and cast were amazing. We all enjoyed ourselves.

The kids had an opportunity to meet some of the cast after the show. We also met "Shrek", but without his make up on. The show had lasted longer than we had planned so many of the attractions locally that we wanted to visit were going to be closing soon.

So, we headed to the Dutch Haven on our way home to try some Shoo Fly Pie. Okay, so I didn't have any pie, but the boys loved it and we ended up bringing one home with us. We also bought some Amish Root Beer and Owen was not leaving without this hat!

We plan on going back when we can spend a few days exploring all that this beautiful land has to offer. Everything seemed to so peaceful and picture perfect. Even though it was only an overnight trip the boys learned a lot about the Amish. They can't wait to go back!

*Stay Tuned for the rest of our Summer!*
