This May the Barrett's welcomed 2 new additions! Here are Leo and Wasabi!
Having chicks the second time around is much more relaxing. We know what to do this time.
I attended a screening of Hot Pursuit and had the opportunity to meet Sofia Vergara. She also has a new line of jewelry at Kay's Jewelers. She was hysterical in this film. If you get a chance to see it- do so!
I was asked to review Doctor Zhivago on Broadway. Then I found out 3 days later that it would be closing! Frank and I still had a chance to see it and frankly- I can see why it closed!
Noah just completed an Independent Study program with his homeschooling group. The topic he chose: GMO's. Take a peek at his presentation!
He worked very hard doing research on this topic. I think we all learned a lot.
We pulled Owen for another Homeschooler field trip. This time at Boscobel. The boys loved it! They are both fans of history and the experience of getting to walk through this lovely home and learn about how things were a long time ago is priceless.
Okay, maybe not as priceless as this pic of them trying a chamber pot!
We celebrated Mother's day in style with the Nonna. The boys made us lunch and showered us with more love than a heart can handle.
The babies came out to join us for a bit! Owen acted as mom!
Owen's class had their character parade this month! Owen's book was The Mark of Athena and he was Leo Valdez! Noah refused to do this when he was in 3rd grade so this was new for me!
After my son announces that he is hot stuff ( that's what he's mouthing while everyone applauds!) I jump in my car with Noah and head to Woodstock for the Homeschool flea market!
I love this event and so does Noah! In the fall he made and sold earrings from chicken feathers plus some of his old toys. This Spring he brought back his chicken earrings, old toys plus made grab bags filled with stickers, tats, candy and small toys. He sold out of his grabs bags!
Ritzy has developed a liking for the chicks! ( And I don't mean eating them!)
Memorial Day weekend we headed down to Point Pleasant, NJ and hit Jenkinson's Boardwalk. The boys loved the rides and the beach.
The main reason for our visit was their cousin Benjamin's first birthday party at the Lakewood BlueClaws game! We had a great morning and spent a wonderful afternoon with family before we headed home.
On Memorial Day the boys marched in the town parade with their lacrosse team. Owen was one of the boys that was chosen to give candy out to the kids in the crowd. We loved seeing them honor our Veterans.
Did I tell you Frank came home with a sailboat one day? Dear Lord help me! He bartered and here it is! We purchased a boat slip and well, this is our new Summer fun!
It was a rocky sail in that little boat, but it was fun when it wasn't terrifying! We did get to dock on the opposite side of the shore and eat an awesome meal!
One of the best things about homeschooling is being out in nature when it's beautiful outside. Noah and I do a lot of work outside and it's good for him/us.
My foodie has also developed a taste for gardening. He loves knowing where his food comes from and showed an interest this year in tending the garden.
Nothing comes for free. The boys really worked it to help get the soil/sand ready for the pool. Phew! I know, it's a lot, but as you can see we've been busy/living!
Noah entered his recipe for the White House Healthy Lunchtime Challenge and was chosen as one of 3 finalists for New York state! Although his was not chosen to attend the dinner at the White House he was proud to have made it so far. He will try again next year!
Yes, I pulled Owen out of school again to attend another homeschool field trip event! This time to the New York Historical Society. We rented a bus and headed on our way to city to have the children take a workshop on civil rights. We are so lucky that we can do what we do for these guys! Stay tuned for new updates!
